The human soul has been the benefit and the downfall of the human race. Without a soul you end up cold and callous. However, if you seem to have a soul or if you are too kind, people will walk all over you. With this piece I wanted to show how nice it would be if you could unzip someone and see what intentions they hold behind their physical forms. Life would be easier if you could always tell when someone was lying, or if someone you knew had any special feelings for you. The idea behind unzipping someone displays the idea of pure simplicity. There would be no complicated paths of fate or twisted words frothing from someone’s mouth. Instead there would be truth and humans would be broken down to their simplest form, their soul. That is why the human I created was featureless, because when you look into someone’s soul it doesn’t matter what they look like. It matters what they are thinking and what they represent on a spiritual level. The emptiness of this body represents the emptiness as an art form. What if someone had no soul? Would there be utter blackness dwelling in their ribcage? Cobwebs swarming around their beating hearts? Through the idea of emptiness I showed what a soulless human being would look like once they were unzipped and shown off to the world.
